Many large vertical
pump installations experience significant vibration near the
operating speed. This is very often a structural resonance
occurring at or near the operating speed. Unless your pump
motors are driven by VFD's, changing the pump geometry and
mass-elastic properties is the only way to fix the problem.
But how can you know what to do without resorting to a
trial-and-error approach?
PII has fixed dozens
of pumps with this exact problem. Our combination of field
testing and finite element modeling allows us to design a complete
solution that fixes the vibration problem without multiple
iterations. We can generally diagnose if the vibration problem
is a resonance issue with only one site visit.
